What is Ice Skating?
Ice Skating is quite popular around the world and many people enjoy this sport. Ice skating can be done for a variety of reasons such as leisure, fun, travelling and sports. Ice skating can be carried out either on artificial locations or naturally occurring bodies. . Today, men and women’s figure skating and speed skating are one of the popular events in the Winter Olympics.
Music adds to the skating atmosphere. With it streaming out over the loudspeakers, you cannot help but get caught up in the excitement of the moment. When You Are there in the skating ring and all these elements take your mind off worries and you are able to relax and enjoy yourself. Basically, this form of skating is called recreational skating and includes other forms like: figure skating, speed skating, and hockey.
In fact, figure skating has become more popular in the recent years as the ice skates became more and more advanced. In figure skating alone there are several different categories such as singles, pairs, ice dance and synchronized skating. Single skating is the most popular form of figure skating because new ice skates have enabled people to perform jumps, spins and dances to music.

Which is more of a sport ice skating or table tennis?
I know that they are bot sports but which is more respectable to play?
HOW OLD ARE YOU?
I’m assuming you are young (’cause you want to know which is more “respectable”!!).
WHAT LEVEL DO YOU WANT TO PLAY AT?
If you just want to play recreational like go skating once a week or play table tennis with fat people in a closed garage, you’re not gonna get anything from either.
WHERE DO YOU LIVE?
If you are in USA:
table tennis is USA is mostly played in garages with crappy paddles and some guy who can beat his overweight neighbors thinks he’s a world champ….so not much popularity or “respect” here. You can still find clubs in bigger cities with some really good players (mostly European and Chinese Americans). There’s a good way to play at a high level, but table tennis in USA is nowhere compared to the level in Europe or China, so may not be worth the time.
Skating in USA is a little more popular. You can be an ice hockey player (if you’re a boy) or a figure skater like Michelle Kwan or the pair that won an olympic medal (if you’re a boy or girl). Ice hockey is pretty popular among typical beer drinking, Hot Dog munching fans, while if you follow figure skating, you’ll have “respect” among other people interested in it if you get good at it!!
If you’re in Europe /Asia/Africa, you won’t even ask this question.
I don’t know much about Latin America, but they do pretty well in both table tennis and figure skating.
WHAT IS YOUR ATHLETIC TYPE?
Table tennis requires lightning-quick athletic reflexes and lightness of body. You have to train really hard to get to a good level and develop reflexes. It’s really grueling.
Figure Skating requires body control and strength and that artistic interest. So if you are the type that enjoys dance studio, etc., it will suit you well.
For Ice hockey, if you like pushing and shoving, wrestling, boxing, etc., you’ll can get good at it. It’s pretty grueling too.
They are both great sports, but before you decide “which is more of a sport” for you, think of all the above.
