Is there a problem if I replace the stock exhaust on my Nissan Frontier, with a racing muffler?

the muffler is a 3A Racing / 1 1 / 2 inch round Stainless Steel universal muffler with 4 "tip

Mechanically there should be no problem, except the exit power slightly decreased fuel mileage. However, you should check up on your local laws. In California, known as one of the worst states in regarding regulations for vehicles, there are two main laws should consider: 1) The exhaust gases should not be intentionally increase the production of noise a vehicle after his departure from stock. 2) The exhaust system is not to exceed 90 dB in volume. If possible, do not remove the catalytic converter. An alternative is a cat high flow. Following these guidelines you should avoid a fine, or at least raise an argument in the result of one.
